How-to: Get a # on MacBook with Kubuntu / KDE 4

I recently decided to give Kubuntu with KDE 4 a try on my MacBook, the installation was painless and aside from a few patchy bits (to be expected from beta software) it's running great. I was trying to fix a few bugs on the website and couldn't figure out how to access the # sign, normally alt+3 in OS X. Here's the method we found...

In "System Settings" choose "Regional" > "Keyboard Layout". You then need to enable Keyboard Layouts and add the mac variant of your keyboard's language. This fixes most problems with the keyboard layout. Then in the Advanced tab under "Third level choosers" choose "Press Right Win-key to choose 3rd level".

Now you can get all those extra symbols by pressing the right command key instead of option (alt). The # and € are not lost! :-)

Thanks to D_Ed for helping me figure this one out!
